Ugly universe
This song was composed in a fragile moment. There is the time that one wonders wether it could be possible to share that intimacy again and through this came the thought that love itself could be an ugly universe at certain moments, my reasoning was that like the ultimate universe love too is everchanging and also seems to thwart our minds with its complicated simplicity. To counter the feeling of hopelessness in conceiving love as an ugly universe I was touched by the idea that regardless of anything it is and always will be a place where we want to be with somebody. The first verse refers to the importance that most place on the opinion of others and how ultimately it can serve as a way to lie to oneself to avoid responsibility of what one truly feels. The second verse refers to the cymbiance in which all people exist and how deeply we all are connected in contrast to what the first verse intends. And the romance of these thoughts expressed the torn yet contented feeling I felt
The Ghetto song
This song I co-wrote with Gavin Green so I don’t fully understand his motives for writing the song but having written the verses and changing some of the chorus in this version I developed inspiration of my own. Where I come from ghetto’s are in ones face constantly its one of those ‘realities’ one cannot escape and it makes dreams harder to follow. The word or name ghetto nowadays is a matter of perspective and in a lot of cases when used to describe ones dwelling it serves as an emotional truth rather than an actual one. This theme is strong where I come from, I originally named the track ‘ghetto heart’ for on my travels I realised how I felt about where I came from and it’s a bitter sweet feeling but none the less its my home and I love it and would never swap it for any other place. So the verses are self explanatory and I try to bring across that there is a revolution burning in my heart against the situations and circumstances life throws at me and so many of my brothers and sisters at home, so this is the anthem that reminds me why I am doing what I do. Its kind of my home song.
The lake song
This song was inspired by a certain clarity that can exist between lovers from the first moment.
